English footballer Marcus Rashford has officially moved to Spanish club Barcelona on loan from Manchester United until June 30, 2026. The agreement includes an option for Barcelona to make the transfer permanent.

Barcelona will cover approximately 75% of Rashford’s weekly salary of £325,000, with Rashford agreeing to forfeit the remaining portion. The 27-year-old, who recently had a loan spell at Aston Villa, was not favored by Manchester United’s current manager, Ruben Amorim.

Rashford, who became part of United’s senior squad in 2015, expressed that he harbors no resentment towards his former club. “United has played a significant role in my life. I’m thankful for the opportunity, but I believe it’s the right time for a new chapter,” he stated.

The forward referred to Barcelona as a “family club” and mentioned that it already feels like home to him. He will don the number 14 jersey, which was previously worn by the legendary Thierry Henry.

Barcelona coach Hansi Flick had earlier identified Rashford as a potential addition as the club aims to bolster its left wing. Rashford is anticipated to enhance Barcelona’s attacking options alongside seasoned striker Robert Lewandowski.

Despite previous injuries and a decline in his performance, Rashford is determined to demonstrate his capabilities. “I’m prepared for the challenges ahead and excited to contribute to the team’s success,” he remarked.

Rashford netted 138 goals in 426 appearances for Manchester United. He now aims to make an impact at Barcelona, joining a select group of British players to represent the club.

“Scoring goals would be fantastic,” Rashford noted. “However, what truly matters is assisting the team in winning trophies.”
