34 Years Later, West Indies Reclaim ODI Series Glory Against Pakistan

West Indies secured a historic victory over Pakistan in the three-match ODI series, winning 2-1. They haven't defeated Pakistan in a series since 1991.

In the last game of the tournament at Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad, West Indies batted first and made 294/6. Captain Shai Hope played a fantastic innings, finishing on 120 not out with 10 fours and 5 sixes. Justin Greaves, also not out 43, helped the team make a good score.

Pakistan capitulated badly chasing 295 runs, managing just 92 runs in 29.2 overs! West Indies bowler Jayden Seales was the star, taking six wickets for just 18 runs. Several Pakistani batsmen, including captain Mohammad Rizwan, failed to score, and five players couldn’t even open their accounts.

One of the West Indies' largest run victories in ODI history was this 202-run triumph. Seales was named Player of the Series for his ten wickets across three matches.

The win is a major boost for West Indies cricket, especially after a series of losses in Tests and T20s. Captain Hope praised the team’s performance and highlighted the positive momentum this victory brings for their preparations ahead of the 2027 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup.
