Chris Froome Suffers Life-Threatening Heart Injury in Training Crash

Following a serious collision during a training cycle in France, cycling sensation Chris Froome is recuperating in a hospital.The incident left him with multiple injuries, including a collapsed lung, fractured ribs, and damage to the protective lining around his heart known as a pericardial rupture. He was flown to the hospital by helicopter and is expected to remain under medical care for several weeks. His team has confirmed that he will not compete again this season.


Froome is rightly considered one of the best road cyclists of his generation. He was born in Kenya and raised in South Africa and began racing professionally in 2007 with Team Sky. Froome has taken seven Grand Tour victories during his career: four Tour de France wins (2013, 2015, 2016, 2017), two Vuelta a España wins (2011, 2017), and a Giro d'Italia (2018). He also earned bronze medals in Olympic time trials in 2012 and 2016. 


He is known for his endurance, climbing, and racing strategy. After undergoing extensive rehab from serious injuries including a career-ending crash in 2019, Froome is still considered a well known name and a current rider for Premier Tech and Israel.
