In a major achievement for Nepalese cricket, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has confirmed Nepal as the host nation for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 Global Qualifier. The tournament will be held from January 12 to February 16, 2026.

Ten teams will participate in the event, competing for the remaining four spots at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, which will take place in England and Wales from June 12 to July 5.

The qualifier matches will be played in Kathmandu, across two venues including Mulpani Cricket Ground. The teams will be divided into two groups of five. The top three teams from each group will move to the Super Six stage. The top four teams from there will qualify for the World Cup.

So far, Nepal, Thailand, the USA, Bangladesh, and Ireland have confirmed their spots for the Qualifier. The remaining five teams will come from upcoming regional qualifiers in Africa, Europe, and East Asia-Pacific.

Nepal qualified for this stage by finishing second in the Asian Regional Qualifier, marking the first time the country has reached this level in women’s cricket.

The ICC will release the full fixture list soon. The 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup in England and Wales will feature 12 teams, playing 33 matches across seven venues, including Old Trafford, Headingley, and Lord’s.

This is a proud moment for Nepalese cricket, especially women’s cricket, as the country prepares to host its biggest international cricket event to date.
