England has advanced to the final of the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 after a dramatic 2–1 extra-time win over Italy at Stade de Genève.
Barbara Bonansea gave Italy the lead in the thirty-third minute. They held onto the lead until the very end, looking close to securing a spot in their first major final in over 20 years.
However, England didn’t give up. In stoppage time, 19-year-old substitute Michelle Agyemang scored the equalizer, sending the game into extra time.
With just one minute left in the match, England earned a penalty. Chloe Kelly’s first attempt was saved, but she scored on the rebound, putting England ahead 2–1.
The match ended in heartbreak for Italy, especially after their captain Cristiana Girelli left the field due to injury.
England will play Germany or Spain in the final on Sunday in Basel after winning this match. This marks England’s third consecutive major tournament final, after winning Euro 2022 and finishing second in the 2023 World Cup.
