KATHMANDU: The Nepali government has provided financial incentives in appreciation of the women's volleyball team's performance in the CAVA Women's Volleyball Nations League. The 14 players that represented Nepal will receive a prize of Rs 300,000 apiece for placing second in the competition.
The head coach will receive Rs 200,000 in addition to the player incentives. Each of the three will receive Rs 120,000: the manager, coach, and physiotherapist. The Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, stated that the Cabinet made a decision on this issue on Thursday.
In the August 7 final, the Nepal national women's volleyball team lost 3-2 against India, missing out on their first major international trophy won at home. It was a close and competitive match played at the National Sports Council covered hall in Kathmandu.
Prior to this, Nepal had won the league stage against India, and their semi-final victory against Iran had stoked expectations of a historic triumph. Having previously faced India in the 13th South Asian Games final, this was Nepal's second title match against India at home.
