KATHMANDU: The winners of the first-ever Nepal Premier League (NPL) T20 Cricket Championship, the Janakpur Bolts, celebrated their triumph on Friday in Janakpurdham with a trophy parade. The squad formally started the grand march across Madhes Province the following day after arriving in Janakpur on Thursday.
Beginning at the Ramjanaki International Stadium, the joyous procession passed by several significant Janakpurdham sites before coming to an end at the ancient Janaki Temple. Thapa Chowk, Pidari Chowk, Ramananda Chowk, Bhramarpura Chowk, Bajranga Chowk, Zero Mile, Bishwokarma Chowk, Murali Chowk, and Ram Chowk were among the stops along the parade route.
As evidence of the great level of public interest in the event, members of civil society, cricket aficionados, and energetic young people joined the procession. The team's enjoyment of representing Madhes Province and their rapport with the locals were highlighted by the vibrant atmosphere.
On December 21, in an exciting final played at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground in Kathmandu, the Janakpur Bolts defeated the Sudurpaschim Royals to win the NPL championship. The Bolts demonstrated their supremacy throughout the competition by winning with five wickets remaining.
For the cricket players and the residents of Janakpurdham, who gathered to honor their cricketing idols, this celebration was a historic occasion. In addition to bringing the community together, the procession demonstrated the sport's rising popularity in Nepal.
In addition to highlighting the team's accomplishment, the grand trophy parade represented Madhes Province's pride and laid the groundwork for increased cricket fandom in the area.
