ANFA Women's League to kick off today

KATHMANDU: The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) Women's League will have its maiden game today at the ANFA complex in Satdobato, Lalitpur, Koshi Province, and Syangja's Waling Municipality. The league is split into two stages and has ten clubs. Clubs compete against one another in a round-robin format during the first stage. Koshi Province, Sudurpaschim Province, and Karnali Province have advanced to the first round after winning the qualifying rounds.


Along with two teams from each of the A and B division clubs (Sankata Club and Bagmati Youth Club) and two municipal teams (Waling and Chandrapur Municipalities), the competing teams are divided into three departmental sides: APF Football Club, Tribhuvan Army Football Club, and Nepal Police Club. The top five teams in the points standings will advance to the Super League following the first round, which will comprise 40 games.


The top five teams in the Super League will compete in twenty games over a double round-robin format. In the opening round of the playoffs, the top two teams will play each other after the top four teams advance. While the loser faces the winner of the second round of the playoffs, which pits the teams in third and fourth place, the winner advances straight to the title game.


There will be 69 games in the league total, including the 21 qualifiers. The winner of the Women’s League will receive a cheque for Rs 10 lakh, and the runner-up will receive Rs 5 lakh. In addition, there are five thousand rupees for Player of the Match in each game, fifty thousand rupees for the Best Goalkeeper and the Top Scorer, and one lakh rupees for the Fair Play Team and Best Player.
