KATHMANDU: Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda,’ the chairperson of the CPN (Maoist Centre), has called for the resignation of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. During a press conference in Kathmandu on Friday, he cited the failure of the coalition government, which has been under Oli's leadership since the end of June, as the primary reason for his demand.
Prachanda emphasized that although the alliance was established with certain objectives in mind, none of them had been achieved. He also attacked Oli for declaring in 2087 that the constitution needed to be changed, saying it rendered the coalition ineffective. R
esignation on ethical grounds is the proper course of action, according to Prachanda, because the administration has lost moral authority as a result of its inability to achieve its goals. He made it clear, though, that his party is not in a haste to seize power.
Seven opposition parties in the federal parliament voiced harsh criticism of Oli's cabinet during the same press conference. The administration was charged by these parties with encouraging corruption and neglecting to uphold fair international relations. Rastriya Swatantra Party, Rastriya Prajatantra Party, CPN (Unified Socialist), Rastriya Janamorcha, Aam Janata Party, Nepal Socialist Party, and CPN (Maoist Center) are all part of the opposition alliance.
All of these parties have joined forces to criticize the Oli administration, citing its inability to address significant issues and uphold the commitments made when the coalition was formed. As a result of the united opposition's demands for leadership changes, the prime minister is facing mounting political pressure.
In Nepali politics, Prachanda's resignation announcement marks a sea change as the opposition parties continue to band together against Oli's leadership in an effort to change the country's course and governance.
