KATHMANDU: Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana has headed to China to conclude arrangements for Prime Minister KP Oli's impending visit. She has been invited by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi to visit the People's Republic of China from November 28 to 30.
During her visit, which lasts for three days, Minister Rana is set to engage in bilateral discussions with Wang Yi on November 29. The talks will focus on matters of mutual interest, particularly preparations for Prime Minister Oli’s official visit to China.
The primary goal of Minister Rana's travel, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is to prepare the ground for Prime Minister Oli's arrival and make sure that everything is ready for the high-level talks between China and Nepal.
Following her discussions with her Chinese counterpart and other authorities, Minister Rana is anticipated to return to Kathmandu on November 30. Prior to the Prime Minister's visit, the visit will offer a chance to further bilateral relations.
Prime Minister Oli is scheduled to visit China from December 2 to December 5. During his visit, he will hold high-level talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping and other senior Chinese officials.
On December 3, the day following his arrival in Beijing, the Prime Minister will meet with President Xi and other high-ranking officials. It is anticipated that these talks would cover important topics of shared interest between China and Nepal.
Prime Minister Oli will visit Beijing for four days, spending most of his time meeting with Chinese leaders, according to a Ministry of Foreign Affairs source. On December 5, he will return to Nepal.
An official announcement has not yet been made, but the visit is being prepared. On November 29, however, the Beijing and Kathmandu governments are anticipated to make official announcements on the visit.
The proposed visit by Prime Minister Oli displays the importance of strengthening Nepal-China relations and ongoing efforts to expand cooperation between the two nations, particularly in the areas of infrastructure and trade.
