KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Swatantra Party's (RSP) chair, Rabi Lamichhane, has been removed from his role on the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee. His previous suspension as a federal parliamentarian for persistent legal problems was followed by this ruling.
During a Tuesday meeting in Singha Durbar, the news was made. Lamichhane's suspension is connected to legal actions against him, including accusations of money laundering, organized crime, and cooperative fraud, according to committee chairperson Ramhari Khatiwada.
According to reports, Lamichhane plans to challenge his suspension by submitting a writ petition to the Supreme Court. His suspension as a member of a federal parliament and committee has garnered significant public and political interest.
The Federal Parliament Secretariat sent out an official notice of suspension on Monday. This action came after the Secretariat received a letter from the Kaski District Police Office on Sunday, alerting them of the accusations and the continuing investigation.
The allegations brought against Lamichhane in the Kaski District Court have sparked a pivotal legal battle for the well-known politician. Discussions concerning accountability and transparency have been sparked by the changes in Nepal's political landscape.
