PM Oli leaves for China on four-day diplomatic visit

KATHMANDU: Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang extended an invitation to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to visit China, and he flew out today for a four-day official visit scheduled from December 2 to December 5. The purpose of the visit centers on strengthening bilateral ties between the two countries and searching for potential areas of cooperation.


Oli is accompanied by his spouse, Radhika Shakya, and a number of high-ranking officials to visit the Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang. The interaction between these two countries is believed to strengthen commercial and diplomatic ties. 


During his meetings with senior officials of the Chinese Communist Party, Prime Minister Oli would show further Nepal's commitment to deepening its links with China strategically and politically.


Oli's speech at Peking University, where he is expected to advance Nepal's development priorities as well as its vision for bilateral engagement with China, will be among the significant aspects of the visit.


This itinerary was also confirmed by the Chinese Foreign Ministry while its spokesperson, Mao Ning said it was of high importance to any such diplomatic exchange saying that Premier Li Keqiang had invited this prime minister from Nepal to his country.
