KATHMANDU: Dashrath Stadium maintenance and repairs will be covered by a $300,000 USD grant from the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA). This choice was taken at a two-day meeting held at the ANFA Complex, where it was stressed how important stadium maintenance is. In order to supervise the stadium's continuous upkeep and operation, ANFA intends to approach the member secretary of the National Sports Council and the Minister of Youth and Sports.
ANFA has stated that in addition to repairs, a new, contemporary football stadium with a seating capacity of 25,000–40,000 people is required. The Association will look for government assistance in purchasing land in order to make this easier. It was decided at the meeting to set aside USD 2.2 million for the new stadium's development.
A three-member committee has been established to oversee the new stadium project, chaired by Vice President Deepak Khatiwada, with Vice President Dawa Lama and working committee member Manish Joshi. The project's advancement and successful completion will be the committee's responsibility.
