KATHMANDU: The minimum and maximum temperatures in most parts of the country have been gradually increasing over the past few days. The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM) has advised people to be cautious, warning that the next two days are likely to be extremely hot and may experience heat waves.

A weather bulletin issued by the DHM on Thursday indicated that the Terai belt will be particularly hot, with potential heat waves. Some areas in the Sudurpaschim and Lumbini provinces have recorded temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius in recent days.

The DHM has recommended that people stay indoors as much as possible, avoid outdoor activities, and increase their water intake to stay hydrated.

Additionally, the DHM forecasted partly cloudy weather in Koshi and Madesh provinces, as well as in the hilly regions of the other provinces, with mainly fair weather expected in the rest of the country today. The hilly regions of Bagmati, Gandaki, Koshi, and Karnali provinces may see light rain or thunderstorms at one or two places.
