Corruption case filed against Mayor, Deputy Mayor, and Officials of Jaleshwar Municipality

KATHMANDU: The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has initiated legal action against 12 individuals, including the Mayor, Deputy Mayor, and Chief Administrative Officer of Jaleshwar Municipality in Mahottari District, on charges of corruption. Among those named in the case filed on Thursday are Mayor Suresh Sah Senar, Deputy Mayor Raushan Khatun, and former Chief Administrative Officer Mitra Lal Dhakal. The allegations involve corruption linked to a construction project undertaken in Jaleshwar Municipality-1.

The accused individuals are alleged to have engaged in corrupt practices by authorizing payments that exceeded the actual project cost by Rs 584,637. The case also implicates several other officials and individuals associated with the municipality, including Ward Chairman Anil Kumar Jha, Officer Direndra Jha, and senior engineer Pawan Kumar Jha, among others. These individuals are alleged to have been involved in various capacities related to the project.

The corruption case brought forward by the CIAA underscores the seriousness of the allegations against the municipal officials and others involved. With legal proceedings initiated, authorities are aiming to investigate and prosecute those implicated in the alleged corruption, emphasizing accountability and transparency in governance.
