KATHMANDU: The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) has issued arrest warrants for 20 individuals, including Rita Singh Baidya, the former Chairperson of the Nepal Children’s Association, in connection with the Bal Mandir land scam case. Rita Singh Baidya, who served as the organization's chair for approximately 27 years, is among those named in the warrants issued by the Kathmandu District Court on Thursday. The CIB is investigating allegations of fraud related to the case.
Serious allegations in this scandal have implicated Rita Singh Baidya, who is the daughter of Ganesh Man Singh and the sister of Nepali Congress leader Prakash Man Singh. The latest development in the case involves allegations against Baidya for subleasing the Bal Mandir land in 2072, extending the contract with Brihaspati by an additional 43 years beyond its original maturity date. As per the agreement, Brihaspati has been remitting an annual payment of Rs 90 lakhs to the organization. Following this development, Brihaspati facilitated the transfer of five ropanis of the land to an Indian Board for the purpose of founding a school, garnering an annual sum of Rs 60 lakhs.
