KATHMANDU: Today in Ganapur of Janakai rural municipality-6 in Banke, police were compelled to use gunfire to arrest a suspect involved in drug smuggling. Identified as Sushil Pariyar, a 26-year-old resident of Chappargaudi in Kohalpur municipality-12, the accused attempted to evade arrest, prompting law enforcement to resort to such measures, as reported by the District Police Office, Banke.
A combined team comprising the Narcotics Control Bureau Kathmandu and the District Police Office, Banke, had to open fire on Pariyar to prevent his escape, stated Banke’s Deputy Superintendent of Police, Narayan Dangi. During the confrontation, Pariyar sustained injuries to his left leg and is currently receiving medical treatment at Bheri Hospital, Nepalgunj.
In addition to the arrest of Pariyar, local resident Sharan Bahadur Karki, aged 27, was also apprehended by the security team. Both individuals were found in possession of brown sugar weighing 114.25 grams, confiscated by the authorities. As per Dangi, the two suspects will be prosecuted under the Narcotics Drugs (Control) Act, following the due legal process.
Law enforcement had been monitoring the activities of Pariyar and Karki for some time after receiving information implicating them in drug trafficking. This operation marks a significant step in the ongoing efforts to combat narcotics-related crimes in the region.
