KATHMANDU: On Monday, police in Butwal apprehended 13 Indian nationals for their involvement in online gaming betting activities. The arrests were made following reports of such activities taking place in a rented house located at Horizon Chowk, Ward No-11, Butwal sub-metropolitan city.
Upon conducting the arrests, law enforcement authorities also seized 13 computers and 39 mobile phones from the individuals apprehended. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Bijay Raj Pandit of the Area Police Office, Butwal, confirmed that the arrested individuals are Indian nationals. However, personal details of the detainees have not been disclosed by the police.
DSP Pandit stated that the arrested individuals claimed to be from Rajasthan, India, although further verification of their identities is underway. The detained individuals are reported to be between the ages of 25 to 30 years old.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the detainees were engaged in betting activities through various online games, including 'Fair Play'. Allegedly, they had rented two flats within a house at Horizon Chowk several months ago and operated their betting business under the guise of a legitimate enterprise.
DSP Pandit assured that ongoing investigations will shed light on the full extent of the detainees' activities and provide additional details regarding their operations.
