Walt Disney Animation Studios has announced its latest original film, entitled Hexed, coming in November 2026. The film tells the story of a teenage boy and his Type-A mother when they discover the boy's unusual traits are magical powers, changing their lives forever, with the introduction of a hidden magical world.
Roy Conli and Juan Pablo Reyes Lancaster-Jones will produce, and Josie Trinidad (Zootopia+) and Jason Hand (Moana 2) will direct. The announcement was made at Disney's Destination D23 event in Orlando, Florida.
Other updates at the event included Zootopia 2, set for November 2025, featuring Yvette Nicole Brown and Patrick Warburton. Disney also revealed information on Hoppers (March 2026), a movie about a college student who can protect a glade from a highway by occupying a robotic beaver.
Disney has announced the release dates for several upcoming films, such as Toy Story 5 (June 2026), live-action Moana (July 2026), Ice Age: Boiling Point (February 2027), Gatto (June 2027), Frozen III (November 2027), Incredibles 3 (2028), and Coco 2 (2029).
These announcements show that Disney plans to use a combination of new and sequels from existing franchises, and use new goodies to balance out what we know fans are eager to see.
