Taylor Swift surprised fans by announcing her 12th studio album, titled “The Life of a Showgirl.” The announcement came early Tuesday morning with a countdown clock on her website reaching zero at 12:12 a.m. Eastern time.
She revealed the album during a preview clip for her upcoming appearance on her boyfriend Travis Kelce’s podcast, "New Heights", where she opened a briefcase with her initials “TS” and showed off the new album.
Swift did not share a release date, but fans can pre-order the album on her official website. There will be vinyl, cassette, and CD versions of the album. More details will be shared when her podcast episode airs on Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET.
This is Swift’s first new album since finishing her hugely successful Eras Tour in December 2024. The tour broke records and made her one of the top earning musicians on earth.
Her last album, "The Tortured Poets Department", released in 2024, was a smash hit, with its streaming record on Spotify.
Earlier this year, Taylor Swift made headlines by buying back the rights to her first six albums after a long battle for control. In the meantime, she had even re-recorded some of the albums to regain some ownership by releasing "Taylor's Version".
Fans are salivating like puppies waiting for news of "The Life of a Showgirl", and looking forward to what she does next.
