South Africa is set to face Afghanistan in the first semi-final and India against England in the second semi-final for the T20 World Cup 2024. The semifinal showdown takes place on 26 June at 8:30 pm local time in Trinidad and 27 June at 10:30 am local time in Guyana.
India and South Africa finished top of their respective groups and will be the two favorites going into the semis. England was able to qualify despite their two losses, while on the other hand, Afghanistan created history by qualifying for the semis of any ICC event for the very first time ever.
The semi-final playing conditions vary in that the second match does not have a reserve day, given the short turn-around for the final. An additional 250 minutes is, however, added to the day's play for each of the semi-finals to allow for delays of one kind or another. A minimum of 10 overs per inning is required if a game is to be considered complete.
Rain is expected in both cities and the team that finishes higher in the Super Eight group - India and South Africa in this case - will advance if either game is washed out. If the final is washed out, the two finalists are declared joint winners.
