KATHMANDU: Two people who were reported missing have had their remains retrieved in recent instances near the Rapti River. Maniram Chaudhary, 62, a resident of Nayabasti in Lamahi Municipality-7, went missing on Saturday due to flooding. According to Lal Bahadur Shrestha, Chief of the Amiliya Area Police Office, his corpse was discovered some 500 meters away from where he was last seen.
Similarly, 17-year-old Rajkumar Yadav from Bela in Rajpur Rural Municipality-2 also went missing in the Rapti River on Saturday morning while returning home after selling milk. His body was discovered about 150 meters west of Hasnapur Ghat.
On the same day, Tularam Yadav (48) and Dayaram Yadav (40), residents of Bela in Rajpur Rural Municipality-2, were fortunate to be rescued safely from Hasnapur Ghat by a team deployed from the Armed Police Force Nepal. These incidents underscore the dangers posed by the Rapti River during the monsoon season, highlighting the swift and sometimes hazardous conditions that can lead to tragic outcomes.
