KATHMANDU: The road near the Kathmandu Metropolitan Office in Kamaladi, which collapsed several months ago, has been fully reconstructed and is set to reopen on Thursday. The affected road section runs from Mahendra Statue at Durbar Marg to Krishna Pauroti Chowk in Kamaladi and had caved in on August 9, exposing the Tukucha River beneath.
An 11-meter section of the road was completely destroyed as a result of the collapse, which was caused by excessive rainfall. It took three months for authorities to repair the destroyed culvert and hide the exposed river as a result of this damage. The Kathmandu Metropolitan City's Wards 1 through 28 are where the collapse took place.
The Kathmandu Road Division's Division Chief, Narayan Dutta Bhandari, attested to the timely completion of the reconstruction. Preparations are in progress to reopen the road to traffic on Thursday morning, he said. Reconstruction of the road began on October 4 and was initially scheduled to be finished by December 2.
The rapid work allowed the construction to be finished ahead of schedule, and by Wednesday, traffic was able to utilize the route. The speedy development is expected to reduce traffic in the area, particularly for those traveling between the city's main locations.
This repair project's completion is a major success because it restores a vital road that links important locations in the Kathmandu Valley. It also represents the effectiveness of the authorities in overseeing the post-unexpected collapse reconstruction procedure.
