KATHMANDU: This morning, while building a suspension bridge wall in Rolpa, a pile of mud toppled on five workers, killing them in a horrific catastrophe. Dujaman Pariyar, Om Pariyar, Subitra Pariyar, Deviram Pariyar, and Aiti Pariyar were the victims, and they were from Sunchhahari Rural Municipality Ward No. (3). According to the Rolpa District Police Office, they were buried in the mudslide.
Five workers were trapped when the fall happened while construction was underway. Two other employees, fortunately, were able to get away safely. The local community was horrified by the occurrence, and as soon as word of the catastrophe spread, rescue efforts were initiated.
Seven officials from the Area Police Office, Sulichaur, commanded by Police Inspector Arun Tamang, were among the rescuers who were promptly summoned to the scene. Five officers were also sent to help with the recovery attempts from the Police Post, Gam, which is led by Police Assistant Inspector Prakash Bista.
The victims were carefully retrieved from the wreckage by the authorities. The police reported that all five workers' remains had been found from the scene after a lot of labor.
Concerns regarding safety precautions in construction sites, particularly in areas vulnerable to mudslides, have been highlighted by the sad disaster. The tragedy is still being investigated to find out what caused the collapse and to stop future occurrences of the same kind.
