KATHMANDU: Due to rising water levels in the Narayani River, all 36 gates of the Gandak Barrage located in Binayi Triveni Rural Municipality-7 of Nawalparasi (Bardghat-Sustapurva) have been opened. This decision was made after flooding occurred in the Binayi Triveni-1 Baguban area, prompting authorities to take action as water flow continued to increase. Kashinath Harijan, the Liaison Officer of Gandak Barrage, confirmed the opening of all gates due to the escalating water levels.

As of 7:00 am today, the flow of water at Gandak Barrage was recorded at 440,750 cusecs, indicating significant volume moving through the area. Concurrently, in Nawalparasi (Bardghat-Sustapur), the south section along the East-West Highway has been obstructed by fallen trees. Deputy Superintendent of Police Bed Bahadur Paudel reported that the road near Bishwakarma temple in Daunne was blocked due to a tree falling onto the road.
