KATHMANDU: Narayan Prasad Dahal, the chairperson of the National Assembly, has called on the government to begin an investigation into the tragic death of Prakriti Lamsal, a Nepali student who was allegedly murdered at the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) University in India. He condemned this incident in the strongest terms and demanded that immediate diplomatic pressure be exerted to ensure fairness and justice in the investigation.

At the National Assembly session, Dahal emphasized the importance of looking into the specifics of Lamsal's mysterious death. He also urged the authorities to create a safe and friendly environment for other Nepali students enrolled at KIIT University.

Several lawmakers expressed their worries and called for prompt action. According to Radhe Shyam Paswan, who spoke during emergency hours, Lamsal was compelled to commit suicide as a result of ongoing mental harassment by the college administration. He demanded that the situation be looked into by authorities in order to guarantee justice.

Paswan highlighted these unfortunate circumstances of other Nepalese students with the intention of motivating diplomacy from the government. He called for action to avert the suffering of more individuals immediately.

Krishna Bahadur Rokaya has harshly criticized the maltreatment that the protesting Nepali students incurred in the wake of Lamsal's murder. He said that it was high time for the government to step in to ensure their safety and protection if they choose to file their grievances.

Madan Kumari Shah lashed out at the KIIT administration for not allowing Lamsal's family to see her body. She declared the denial as intolerable and demanded accountability from the institution regarding its handling of this issue.

At KIIT University, Mohhamad Khalid reiterated how quickly the government needed to step in and protect Nepali students. He called for appropriate government action to ensure that these students are safe and sound well while in the foreign country.

Instead of carrying out an open investigation into Lamsal's killing, Tula Prasad Bishwakarma bemoaned the fact that the KIIT officials used intimidation against Nepali students who were demanding justice. He called on the government to act diplomatically right now to hold the guilty parties accountable.

Tulasa Kumari Dahal expressed even more concern and restated the importance of conducting a more comprehensive investigation into the circumstances behind Lamsal's death. A fair and impartial investigation was the only way to find the truth, she insisted.

According to the MPs, the government must ensure Lamsal receives justice and take aggressive steps to prevent similar incidents in the future. They stressed that when students are studying overseas, they shouldn't be subjected to abuse or threats.

Members of the National Assembly also voiced concerns in a separate session about the increasing number of instances of municipal legislators mistreating and physically attacking state staff. They cautioned that such acts might compromise the integrity of public service and government.

MP Padam Bahadur Pariyar vehemently denounced a recent attack on a civil servant by a local legislator in Bandipur Municipality-6, Tanahu, during the Zero Hour session. He insisted on conducting a thorough investigation and taking the appropriate legal action against the responsible parties.

Manarupa Sharma, a member of parliament, also denounced the incident, saying that no public servant should feel in danger while performing their job. She urged stringent action to stop similar occurrences in the future.

Renu Chand brought the government's attention to the several types of discrimination that are pervasive in society. "Authorities should act decisively against individuals who commit acts of bias and injustice", she advised.

Bishnudevi Pudasaini stressed the importance of inter-agency coordination for infrastructure projects in Kathmandu. More planning and cooperation will be needed for improvements to the sewage, electrical, and drinking water systems, she said.

Lawmakers Bishnu Bahadur Bishwakarma, Rukmini Koirala, and Bishnu Kumari Sapkota united in demanding a prompt investigation into Lamsal's murder. They demanded that Nepal's diplomatic channels be used to guarantee an open and equitable investigation.

In support of the demands for justice, Krishna Prasad Adhikari said that no Nepali student should have to experience abuse or a hazardous learning environment while pursuing an education overseas. He urged the state to protect and defend their rights.

Sabitri Malla reiterated the importance of looking into Lamsal's case as soon as feasible. She insisted that negligence or inactivity would set a dangerous precedent that would endanger other Nepali students attending overseas schools.

The discussions within the National Assembly suggested that there is an increasing need for justice to be served for Prakriti Lamsal and for the safety of Nepali nationals who study abroad. Parliamentarians stressed that action had to be taken by the government post-haste to assure the safety of its citizens and to defend their rights.

These pressing issues, namely, the maltreatment of civil servants, foreign interference, and rising fears for student safety, have put pressure on the government to act swiftly.
