KATHMANDU, July 10: Three individuals accused in connection with the violent pro-monarch protest in Tinkune on March 28, who had been evading arrest, appeared in court on Wednesday.

The Kathmandu District Court sent one of them, Satish Neupane, who had been on the run for an extended period, to judicial custody at Dillibazar prison for further investigation. He was immediately taken into custody following the court’s order.

The other two accused, Binanjay Thapa and Rajendra GC, were granted bail of NPR 15,000 each and released.

All three face charges including sedition, criminal disturbance, and organized crime.

Demanding the restoration of the monarchy, the March 28 demonstration, spearheaded by Durga Prasain, descended into violence, resulting in two fatalities, numerous injuries, significant property damage, and arson.

Journalist Suresh Rajak lost his life in a fire during the clashes, while protester Sabin Maharjan died after police opened fire.

The District Government Attorney's Office has filed cases against 65 people, including senior Rastriya Prajatantra Party Vice President Rabindra Mishra and Member of Parliament Dhawal Shamsher Rana, for their alleged roles.

Earlier, the court had placed Durga Prasain and six others, seen as the main accused, in judicial custody. Mishra and Rana appeared in court and were released on bail.
