KATHMANDU: On Resolution in Major Sections on the Comprehensive and Lasting Peace in Ukraine, Nepal Supported it at the UN General Assembly. Neighboring Nations- China and India, however, refrained from casting votes.

93 member nations supported the resolution, 18 opposed it, and 65 abstained, which was approved by the UN General Assembly on the third anniversary of Russia's massive invasion of Ukraine. Remarkably, the United States, which once supported similar resolutions, voted against it this time, supporting Russia instead.

The ruling preserved Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty, and former UN Assistant Secretary-General Kul Chandra Gautam expressed gratitude to Nepal for it.  The Panchsheel ideals and Nepal's commitment to the UN Charter, which are reflected in the nation's own constitution, were also acknowledged by him.

With the support of a number of European countries and on the part of Ukraine, the proposal underscored the long-term effects of the invasion by Russia. The fight that started in 2021 continues to inflict suffering in Ukraine, among other countries worldwide.

He went on to affirm the necessity of maintaining Ukraine's internationally recognized borders while reiterating the international support for its territorial integrity, unity, and sovereignty.

More specifically, it called for future accountability from war criminals and for independent and unbiased investigations at the national and international levels with a view to achieving justice under international law.
