2 arrested for defrauding 219 individuals by making false promise of sending them to Japan

KATHMANDU: On Friday, the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office revealed that two individuals, Narayan Bahadur Rai alias Rajan Shrestha and Parbaraj Pandey alias Ishwari Pandey, have been arrested on charges of defrauding Rs 28.8 million from 219 individuals under the guise of facilitating their travel to Japan.

The police disclosed that the suspects exploited their consultancy services, promising to arrange travel to Japan for the victims. However, they allegedly swindled a significant sum of money from each of the 219 individuals who sought their assistance.

The arrests come after an investigation into complaints filed by the victims, revealing a pattern of fraudulent activity orchestrated by Rai and Pandey. Authorities are now pursuing legal action against the suspects for their involvement in the scam.
