KATHMANDU: After the demonstrations at Tudikhel on Monday against Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, the authorities chose to detain youth. The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has strongly objected to this action. When the arrests took place in Kathmandu during the Gaura Festival program, both of the leaders were there. The protesting children were brought into prison as they chanted anti-prime and anti-NC slogans.
Lawmaker Hari Dhakal of the RSP questioned the government's decision, saying it was unfair to imprison the young people on suspicion of acting in chaos. He has demanded their immediate release, claiming that these kinds of harsh actions violate the right to peaceful protest.
Despite efforts by the organizers to diffuse the situation, the youngsters at the festival continued to yell slogans and use foul language. Following the demonstrations, which had significantly disrupted the event, there were arrests.
