KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Acting Chair DP Aryal has called for party Chair Rabi Lamichhane to be reinstated as a member of parliament immediately, stating that his suspension ought to be overturned right once.
Aryal voiced his worries during a Friday speech to the House of Representatives that the parliament appeared to be endorsing the government's position against Lamichhane. He took issue with what he saw as the legislative body's lack of objectivity.
He charged that the parliament and the government were behaving vindictively toward Lamichhane. According to Aryal, parliament seemed to be complicit in the authorities' apparent determination to take retaliatory action.
Aryal cautioned that the government will ultimately be held accountable for what he called a targeted and unwarranted campaign against the head of the fourth-largest political party in Nepal.
He also said that the government frequently makes up court cases to trick people, and he emphasized that parliament shouldn't condone such practices.
