KATHMANDU: The House of Representatives has scheduled a general discussion on the Nepal Citizenship (Second Amendment) Bill, 2025. This motion was introduced by Speaker Devraj Ghimire and has been passed by the House with a majority vote after a previous quorum-less session for the discussion on February 16 failed to proceed.

Similar legislation on energy efficiency and renewable sources of power was also introduced in the same session. The National Assembly's message was appended to the bill, and it was deferred to further legislative consideration.

This act is ushered in by the introduction of House Secretary Harkaraj Rai in the succeeding level of the process. The guidelines are aimed specifically at improving energy efficiency and promoting energy use from sustainable sources into further consideration by the lawmakers.

Prithvi Subba Gurung, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, also submitted the Sixth Annual Report for 2023-2024 and the Seventh Annual Report for 2024-2025 of the National Security Council. These reports were presented by him on behalf of the Prime Minister with Mr. KP Sharma Oli.

As a result of such developments, the House of Representatives has undertaken critical legislative engagements on several of the national security, energy policy, and citizenship rights issues.
