KATHMANDU: A four-member delegation from the Lower House of the Japanese Parliament: the House of Representatives, led by the Chair of the Standing Committee on Judicial Affairs, Mr. Takebe Arata, is scheduled to visit Nepal from July 27 to 30, 2024. The delegation included Makihara Hideki, Michishita Daiki, and Oguchi Yoshinori making it the first envoy from the new cabinet of Prime Minister KP Oli that was formed on July 14, 2024.
During the tour, the delegation also met some of the political leaders of Nepal including Dr. Arzu Rana the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the President of Nepal Mr. Ram Chandra Paudel, Minister of Urban Development Prakash Man Singh, and the Minister of Labor, Employment, and Social Security Mr. Sharad Singh Bhandari. Many of the discussions covered various aspects of bilateral relations between Nepal and Japan, with special emphasis on the people exchanges.
Additionally, the Japanese parliamentarians met with the Nepal-Japan Parliamentary Friendship League, led by Dr. Narayan Khadka, and visited several entities in Kathmandu to observe the education and training of young Nepalis before they travel to Japan for study or work.
