NEPSE surges past 2,700 points, gains 64.26 points

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) surpassed the 2,700-point barrier and closed at 2,760.91 points today after a gain of 64.26 points, or 2.38%, after the previous day's increase of 35 points. The float index increases by 2.28 percent and 2.19 percent in the sensitive index.


Today, all sectors saw gains, with the Finance sector leading the way with an 8.08% boost. The Investment sector followed suit, rising 6.90%. Other industries, such as Development Bank, Hotel and Tourism, Hydropower, and Life Insurance, experienced rises ranging from 2.10% to 3.99%.


Among individual stocks, 191 companies saw their values increase, 44 declined, and seven remained unchanged. Notably, eight companies, including United Ajod Insurance Limited (UAIL) and Gurkhas Finance Ltd (GUFL), experienced a 10% rise in their share values.


The daily turnover on the exchange amounted to Rs 21.9 billion, with 50,967,951 shares of 332 companies traded across 238,272 transactions. NEPSE has a market capitalization of Rs 4.380 trillion overall.
