First Lady Melania Trump is threatening to pursue a lawsuit against Hunter Biden in excess of $1 billion in damages after he asserted Melania was introduced to her then husband, former President Donald Trump, by convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Biden made the comments during an interview earlier this month, which Melania’s attorneys deemed “false, defamatory, and damaging.” Melania’s attorney Alejandro Brito sent a letter demanding a public retraction and apology with a warning of litigation if he does not comply.
The claim originated from Biden’s statement during an interview with a journalist, Andrew Callaghan, who in part referred to Michael Wolff, who authored a negative biography of Trump. Melania’s attorneys stated that there is simply no evidence that Epstein introduced Melania to Donald Trump.
This lawsuit comes at a time when Epstein’s connections to public figures are still being scrutinized, and other lawsuits have been filed looking for the release of previously unreleased documents related to Epstein. Hunter Biden has not publicly responded as of yet to the threat.
