Kathmandu District Court orders detention of Bechan Jha in fake Bhutanese refugee scam

KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu District Court has ordered the detention of Bechan Jha in relation to the fake Bhutanese refugee scam. Judge Tirtha Raj KC issued the detention order, ruling that Jha should remain in custody. 


Jha, who had been evading arrest, was finally apprehended on June 29 in Kanchanpur. He is accused of acting as a mediator in the scam, facilitating meetings between brokers and high-ranking officials, including the Home Minister and the Secretary. Despite these allegations, Jha has denied any involvement in the case during the court hearing.
