KATHMANDU: Two people have been taken into custody for scamming others by offering lucrative international job possibilities. Kishan Kumal, 28, of Chyangli, Palungtar Municipality-7 in Gorkha, and Yubak Khadka, 33, of Okhre, Diprung Chuichumma Rural Municipality-2 in Khotang, have been taken into custody.
Kishan Kumal, a resident of Greenland Chowk, Tokha, Kathmandu, is accused of obtaining Rs 3.35 million from four victims with the promise of sending them to work in Israel. With the promise of bringing the victim to Malaysia, Yubak Khadka, who is currently residing in Basundhara, Kathmandu, stole Rs 250,000 from them. Later, both people were inaccessible.
Upon receiving reports from the victims, the Kathmandu Valley Crime inquiry Office in Teku began an inquiry. Yubak Khadka was arrested by police in Ratnapark on Saturday, and Kishan Kumal was arrested in Teku on Friday.
The Department of Foreign Employment in Tahachal, Kathmandu, has received both suspects for additional testing and judicial processes.
Police are taking further action to prevent these illicit businesses from exploiting residents, and the arrests serve as a reminder of the persistent problem of fake offshore job programs.
