KATHMANDU: Makwanpur police have detained two individuals after unearthing 392 kg of prohibited marijuana disguised inside an oil tanker. A police team from the Ratomate police station carried out the operation on Tuesday after receiving information about the illegal substance's shipment.

The two individuals who were taken into custody are Dhan Bahadur Malla, 22, and Roshan Puri, 26, both of whom work as tanker drivers in Jamire, Manhari Rural Municipality-9 in Makwanpur. Local law enforcement conducted a premeditated investigation before apprehending them.

The arrests were verified by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Shyam Aryal, who mentioned that the marijuana was contained in 25 red plastic bags. The drugs were difficult to find since they were concealed in three different compartments of the truck.

After the authorities thoroughly searched the vehicle and all of its compartments, they eventually discovered the contraband. The police's commitment to putting an end to local drug trafficking is evident in this operation.

Following the arrests, the police launched more inquiries into the people and their potential connections to bigger drug trafficking organizations. This investigation is still pending, and authorities are currently searching for additional evidence.
