KATHMANDU: Rabi Lamichhane, the former Home Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, is scheduled to appear before the Kaski District Court later today. He is currently being held by the authorities on suspicion of embezzling money from the Sooryadarshan Savings and Credit Cooperative.
Lamichhane was taken into custody in Kathmandu on Friday on suspicion of participating in organized crime and embezzling cooperative funds. He was taken to Pokhara the same evening after his arrest.
Lamichhane, the Rastriya Swatantra Party leader, is being detained at the Kaski District Police Office.
Lamichhane will appear in court later today for additional judicial proceedings, according to office spokesman Basant Kumar Sharma.
