KATHMANDU: In Sarlahi's Haripurwa Municipality, a young man shot and killed his father and wife, Chitralekha Yadav, age 23. On Wednesday about 2:45 PM, the man, Dhirendra, arrived home on a motorcycle with a buddy. While his friend waited outside, he fatally shot his wife inside their home.
Chitralekha was shot twice in the head, according to the police, and passed away immediately. The attack also injured Dhirendra's father, 54-year-old Ram Dinesh Raya, who is presently being treated for a gunshot wound at the Provincial Hospital Malangwa.
Dhirendra and his friend rode off from the crime site on a motorcycle. To find and capture both gunmen, police have initiated a search and seizure operation.
The initial investigation discovered that a tiny weapon, most likely a pistol, was used to commit the murder. Police have removed two shot casings and one misfired bullet from the site, but the gun has not yet been located.
People in the area said that Dhirendra had returned home from his job overseas approximately a month ago and had been dealing with domestic problems. A long-running argument kept him from living with his family.
The acting chief of Sarlahi Police, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Deepak Shrestha, said that the shooting was probably caused by a family quarrel. On Wednesday night, Dhirendra allegedly came home armed and attacked his wife and father.
Chitralekha's body has been transported to the Provincial Hospital Malangwa for a postmortem examination.
Police are gathering evidence and investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances behind the murder. In addition to looking for the murder weapon, law enforcement agents are doing all in their power to capture Dhirendra and his accomplice.
