A US car accident claimed the lives of two Nepali students

Two Nepali students enrolled at Louisiana Tech University tragically lost their lives in a car accident during a severe rainstorm on Saturday night, according to U.S. media reports.

The crash occurred just before 9 p.m. local time in Ruston, Louisiana, and the victims, Rajan Yadav, 22, and Rojin Oli, 20, perished at the scene, according to KNOE.

 Yadav was driving a Honda Accord along U.S. Highway, according to Louisiana State Police. Highway 80, accompanied by Oli and two other passengers. The vehicle veered off the roadway and slammed into a tree before catching fire.

Oli and Yadav were both declared dead at the scene.  After suffering injuries, the other two passengers were taken to a local hospital for medical attention.  Whether the victims were wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision has not been verified by authorities.

Police have collected routine toxicology samples from the scene and sent them for further analysis as part of the ongoing investigation.

In response to the tragic news, Louisiana Tech University issued a statement expressing deep sorrow over the loss of the two students. "As a university, we espouse caring as a cherished Tenet of Tech," wrote Jim Henderson, the president of the university, in an emotional Facebook post.  Keep looking out for one another now and always.

The university also announced that counselling services and walk-in sessions are being made available to students at Keeny Hall. Additionally, the university’s Office of International Affairs is planning a memorial service in honor of the deceased students and is offering additional support to members of the international student community.

The sad death has shocked both the university and the Nepali student community. It shows how important it is to stay safe and stick together during hard times.
