KATHMANDU: One of Nepal Airlines Corporation's (NAC) narrow-body aircraft, designated 9N-AKX, has successfully returned to Kathmandu following maintenance. After being stopped at Dammam, Saudi Arabia, due to a mechanical problem that arose shortly after arrival, the plane returned to Tribhuvan International Airport at 10:20 AM on Tuesday. During the two days while the maintenance was being done, the aircraft had not been used.
According to NAC spokeswoman Ramesh Paudel, the aircraft has returned, and the maintenance was finished before the return trip to Kathmandu. Additionally, he disclosed that later that evening, the same aircraft was expected to fly to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The mechanical issue had kept the airplane in Dammam since last Saturday, but it was resolved during the two days of repairs, enabling the plane to return to Kathmandu with 87 passengers. NAC's ability to restart regular operations depended on the aircraft's successful maintenance and return.
As a matter of fact, NAC will later be expecting the return of its next aircraft, 9N-AKW, which had gone for a C-check on February 2 before being flown to China. The return of this aircraft is part of the process of rehabilitating and ensuring the services of the fleet.
Return of the two planes is sweet news for NAC which has been focusing on upgrading its fleet and making sure its passengers don't miss their destinations.
