KATHMANDU: Today's terrible weather is seriously disrupting domestic aircraft operations. Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) has reported that flights to Pokhara and Bharatpur have been suspended due to low cloud cover and severe rain. Foreign flights are operating on schedule, however, domestic flights are affected, as stated by TIA General Manager Jagannath Niraula.
Not only are flights to Pokhara and Bharatpur canceled, but other airports in hilly areas also experience disruptions in flight operations. Buddha Air's information officer, Dipendra Kumar Karna, acknowledged that there aren't any flights available to these locations right now, but updates would be sent when visibility improves.
There is light to moderate rain and lightning in several areas due to the unfavorable weather. The persistent interruptions in flight schedules could be exacerbated by the possibility of heavy rains in isolated sections of other provinces and in parts of Gandaki and Lumbini states.
