KATHMANDU: A new landslide that happened soon after the last one that had damaged the road has forced the suspension of repair work on the Maikhola-Bhanjyang section of the Mechi Highway. Because of the possibility of more landslides in the area, the Divisional Road Office declared on Saturday night that repair work had been put on hold.

Travelers are having trouble and are being compelled to find alternate routes in order to get to destinations in Jhapa, Ilam, Panchthar, and Taplejung as a result of the blocked road portion. The region's transportation system has been severely damaged by the disturbance.

In response to the existing problems, a workable alternative route, the Godak-Jogmai Khola-Tilkeki road, is being planned. This scheme would give tourists affected by the landslides a more reliable option.

In order to maintain the safety and accessibility of important roads, the situation emphasizes the ongoing threat posed by landslides in the area, calling for vigilant observation and preemptive action.
