KATHMANDU: Securing long-distance public transportation and airline tickets has become more challenging due to the large number of people departing Kathmandu for their hometowns to celebrate Dashain.

The Chief of the Traffic Police Office in the Kathmandu Valley, Bharat Bahadur Bohara, announced that 363,164 individuals had left the valley for the Bada Dashain celebrations between September 30 and October 6.

16,465 people left Kathmandu between Saturday night and Sunday morning, adding to the increasing number of travelers.

Vehicles becoming stopped at checkpoints and on highways due to the increased number of travel has brought attention to the congestion brought on by the holiday rush.

Concerns over the state of the roads have been raised by drivers, who have noted that certain sections have been damaged or washed away, creating serious difficulties for both drivers and passengers.

Many locals were unable to travel home during Dashain because it was impossible to get bus and airline tickets, according to Lokesh Singh, a local from Kailali.

Singh said, "Tickets for buses and air have not been easily available; I got a seat because I had already booked and paid for a ticket earlier." Because there were no tickets available, he mentioned that some of his friends were still in Kathmandu.

Travel arrangements have been made more difficult for passengers by the fact that they have to pay exorbitant bus and airline fares throughout the holiday season.

Deepak Bahadur Khatri observed that several long-distance passengers heading to Achham were forced to travel even in cramped conditions, such as sitting on the bus's bonnets, at Gongbu Bus Park in Kathmandu.

Many people find it difficult to return home for the Dashain celebrations due to the rise in travel demand and transportation issues, which highlights the logistical obstacles encountered during this joyous time.
