KATHMANDU: Today, the nation celebrates Sri Krishna Janmastami, the birthday of Lord Krishna, with great devotion and a range of events. Scriptures state that Lord Krishna, who is regarded as the incarnation of Lord Vishnu, the guardian against injustice and evil, was born at midnight on Bhadrakrishna Astami during the Dwapar era. He is renowned for advocating for the practices of Bhaktiyog, Karmayog, and Gyanayog.
The celebration pays tribute to Lord Krishna's legacy of pointing humanity in the direction of wisdom, veracity, and immortality. Krishna is revered for his life and teachings because of their influence on moral and spiritual advice. He was born in Mathura to Basudev and Devaki and was later imprisoned by Kansha. He is referred to as "Manmohan" for his mesmerizing flute tunes and "Gopal" for his cowherding duties.
Devotees visit temples dedicated to Lord Krishna, such as the ancient Sri Krishna Temple at Mangal Bazaar, Lalitpur. King Siddhi Narsingh Malla constructed the temple, which is evidence of his dedication. Numerous religious organizations arrange vibrant parades and showcase images of Lord Krishna, and believers, particularly females, participate in all-night prayers, devotional melodies, dances, and the lighting of oil lamps.
