KATHMANDU: In anticipation of the Dashain festival, Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has launched a clean note exchange facility today. This service, which is offered at all bank and financial institution branches as well as the offices of the central bank and province offices, will continue until October 8.
According to Dr. Dilliram Pokhrel, assistant spokesperson for the NRB, individuals can exchange up to Rs 18,500 in denominations of five, ten, twenty, fifty, and one hundred rupees at any convenient bank or financial institution.
This year, instead of issuing completely new notes as done in previous years, the NRB will be offering clean or unstained used notes for the festival.
The change in policy aims to ensure the circulation of clean currency during the festive season, providing easier access for the public while maintaining hygiene standards.
