KATHMANDU: 161 people impacted by landslides, floods, and inundations had been successfully rescued by helicopters in Nepal as of Sunday morning. This operation is a component of the continuous relief operations for the victims of the recent natural catastrophes.
Rhishi Ram Tiwari, a joint secretary and spokeswoman for the home ministry, stated that 83 of the people who were saved came from different parts of Kavrepalanchowk and were taken to safety. Helicopter deployment has been essential to these rescue efforts.
Three Nepali Army helicopters are now involved in the search and rescue operations. Even though the helicopters were sent out on Saturday, bad weather hindered their ability to do their jobs efficiently.
Thirteen individuals were saved during additional rescue operations in the Kathmandu Valley, according to the ministry, in addition to the 33 victims in Sindhuli and the 32 in Makwanpur. Authorities are utilizing all available resources to restore roads that have been harmed by landslides and floods caused by continuous rainfall.
The recent disasters have resulted in 107 fatalities, 63 reported missing persons, and 73 injuries, all of which have grave consequences. The situation remains dire, and the rescuers continue to work under challenging conditions.
Security forces and relevant authorities have the green light to ensure that people who are in danger are rescued as soon as possible, to provide assistance and medical attention to those affected, and to promptly restore roads that have been damaged. This directive comes from Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak.
