KATHMANDU: Residents of the New Road area have initiated protests against the Kathmandu Metropolitan City's (KMC) plan to narrow the roads in the vicinity. This protest comes in response to ongoing construction work by the KMC, which aims to widen the footpaths for pedestrians by eliminating parking spaces on both sides of the commercial area.
The protestors argue that reducing the width of the roads will worsen traffic congestion and cause inconvenience for businesses and residents. To voice their opposition, locals have formed human chains as a symbol of protest against the decision made by the KMC.
