KATHMANDU: The government has laid out its strategy to solicit expressions of interest for 20 projects, primarily focusing on hydropower ventures, during the commencement of the 3rd Investment Summit in the nation's capital today. These projects, which have undergone thorough feasibility studies, aim to attract both domestic and international investors.
Among the highlighted initiatives is the Dhulikhel Medicity Project, proposing an investment of Rs 11 billion to establish a specialized hospital in Dhulikhel, Kavrepalanchowk, with the intention of promoting medical tourism. Another significant project is the Sudurpaschim Public Transport Project, designed to enhance public transportation in Kailali, Kanchanpur, and Doti districts of Sudurpaschim Province, with an estimated cost of Rs 31.13 billion.
The Naumure Multi-Purpose Project, aiming to generate 281.04 MW of electricity at an estimated cost of Rs 92 billion, and the Khimti Those Shivalaya Reservoir-based Hydropower Project, projected to be the largest of its kind with a cost of Rs 289 billion, are also part of the lineup. Other noteworthy ventures include the Humla Karnali Hydropower Project (61.2 MW), Upper Chameliya Hydropower Project (53.85 MW), and the Panchkhal Special Economic Zone, aimed at bolstering employment opportunities and economic growth.
Additionally, the government is soliciting concept papers for projects such as the Pokhara International Convention Centre and Exhibition Centre, Daiji Industrial Zone, Babarmahal Administrative Plaza, and Karnali-Chisapani Wind Energy Project. These endeavors underscore the Investment Summit's role as a platform to showcase projects and attract investment for their successful execution, ultimately contributing to the country’s economic advancement and prosperity.
